In our next interview, we talk to Andrzej Miziolek, an expert in the printing industry. We find out what challenges packaging manufacturers are facing and how Scanway is responding to these needs with flexible and personalized solutions.
What are the main requirements facing manufacturers in the packaging and printing industry?
AM: The packaging and printing industry is characterized by high-speed processes, which at the same time require precise quality control over the entire product surface. In such a context, vision inspection systems play a key role. Scanway is aware of these requirements and has been providing vision solutions for this sector for many years. Our competitive advantage lies in the flexibility of our systems. Unlike large players in the market who offer ready-made but less customized solutions, Scanway has the ability to adapt our systems to individual customer needs.
Can you give examples of situations where Scanway can provide specialized solutions?
AM: Of course. For standard processes, such as corrugated board production or packaging bonding systems, machine suppliers often offer comprehensive solutions that also include vision inspection systems. However, there are situations where the use of less standard solutions creates space for Scanway. Our flexibility allows us to provide solutions where other manufacturers cannot.
Can you give a specific example?
AM: One area where Scanway has a good chance is in controlling the printing process. We are already responsible for implementing a system that monitors the printing process on the paper web. Our solution provides full real-time control over 100% of the printed area. Unlike other solutions that use sequential inspection of parts of the material, our system scans and inspects the entire width of the ribbon, providing complete control of the process.
Does Scanway offer other unique solutions?
AM: Yes, we also create an advantage in the printing control of corrugated sheets. Due to the variety of printing machines, standard solutions are often of limited use. However, Scanway is able to develop and install an inspection system on any printing machine. Our solutions include checking the correctness of printing tools on machines, detecting errors or matching colors. We are currently working on a color control technology incorporated into the Color Management procedure, which could revolutionize this area.
Are there other examples of the use of Scanway solutions?
AM: We also work with tool suppliers for packaging manufacturers. For example, our vision systems validate Braille codes on die-cutters, eliminating the risk of human error. Similarly, for manufacturers of polymers for flexographic printing, our solutions eliminate errors on printing dies that could be duplicated in hundreds of thousands of copies by the printer. Our mission is to meet the specific needs of the printing and packaging industry, helping manufacturers achieve higher quality and efficiency. Thank you for the opportunity to share our experience.
