Scanway, a Polish technology company that develops optical systems for the industrial and aerospace sectors, has received an order to implement vision systems for inspecting protein casings at Fabios’s production facility in Małopolska. For this project, Scanway will utilize the Hydra system, which it has been developing over the past few quarters—a modular vision system that includes, among other components, proprietary software based on artificial intelligence (machine learning) algorithms.
- Scanway vision systems will be implemented on two production lines at the Fabios manufacturing plant and will be used for continuous inspection of protein casings and for verifying detected defects based on their type, size, and location.
- The order received is a continuation of the company’s collaboration with Fabios, which began with the first implementation in 2022 and continued with another in 2024. The company sees opportunities to further expand this collaboration in the future.
- The contract is worth 71.1 thousand EUR, and the completion time is 5 months. As of March 14, 2025, Scanway is carrying out projects for Fabios with a total value of 119.6 thousand EUR.
- The Fabios production facility will be the first site to implement the Hydra system, currently under development by Scanway, which is characterized by a high level of scalability and automation—Scanway’s solution will enable the full automation of the quality control process at the facility.

Fabios is a manufacturer of collagen casings with one of the largest production facilities located in Małopolska. We are particularly pleased with this order, as it marks a further strengthening of the cooperation between our companies. We carried out our first implementation for Fabios back in 2022, followed by another in 2024. After completing the implementations launched this year, with a total value of 119,610 EUR, we look forward to continuing our collaboration. The collaboration with Fabios as part of the vision system implementations carried out in 2025 marks the start of the commercialization of the proprietary Hydra vision system. It is a modular vision system that integrates technologies previously developed and successfully tested by Scanway during dozens of industrial implementations in recent years, while expanding its functionality to include new areas developed during researchbased on the Company’s internal know-how. The Hydra system is characterized by a significantly increased level of automation, including the use of image processing algorithms, artificial intelligence (machine learning), and hyperspectral scanners. The flexibility of the solution allows it to be applied in various sectors of the economy for customers in the Polish market and, ultimately, the European market as well.

As a result, our solution not only improves quality control but also generates cost savings for the client. The Hydra system is the result of the experience we’ve gained through dozens of implementations on industrial production lines in recent years and represents a significant step forward in the development of our company’s Industry segment. Fabios is a manufacturer of traditional and edible, straight and garland collagen casings and collagen film. Collagen casings are produced in a variety of types, calibers, colors and go to meat plants in Poland, the European Union, as well as Eastern European countries, Asia, America and Australia.
