Scanway S.A. is a Polish company operating in the field of observation technology and machine vision. It is Poland’s first commercial supplier of optical instruments for space and a producer of software enabling the analysis of acquired images. The company’s products enable the precise and continuous observation and analysis of any object or area. The company is the only one in Poland and one of a dozen or so companies in the world that has developed a complete technology for Earth observation, spacecraft operations and process control using camera systems.
The company executes key contracts for space equipment in Poland and worldwide, including for commercial customers. The company’s solutions have been used in the most important European and Polish space missions of 2024. Among other things, the company placed its equipment (Scanway Camera System) on the inaugural flight of the latest European Ariane 6 launch vehicle and delivered the largest telescope in Polish history, weighing approx. 10 kg (SOP200), to EagleEye – the largest satellite that Poland has ever sent into space. Scanway S.A. also operates STAR VIBE, the longest-operating Polish optical observation satellite, whose launch into orbit in January 2023 enabled the Company to achieve the so-called flight heritage – obtaining the highest level of technology readiness (TRL-9). This means that the performance of Scanway products has been confirmed in space.
The company operates simultaneously in two complementary areas: space and industry, where solutions developed in one area enhance the capabilities of the other:
- Space – leading activity covering products for the space sector, i.e. hardware solutions: optical instruments for observing the Earth and the Moon, camera systems for observing objects in space (Scanway Optical Payload – SOP and Scanway Camera System – SCS) and software for analysing the acquired imagery.
- Industry – the Company’s activities covering products for the manufacturing industry, i.e. solutions based on image data processing, including: complete quality control systems, machine vision systems using 2D, 3D, multi- and hyperspectral technologies.
Scanway specialises in the optical processing chain (APAP for short), which includes: acquisition (“A”), processing (“P”), image data analysis (“A”) and event prediction based on this data (“P”). Scanway’s solutions create a coherent and ultimately complete optical data chain, both in the area of satellite data and industrial data, in order to offer customers a full range of services and provide information that is key to a given application.
The company made its debut on the NewConnect market on 11 October 2023.
